Lincoln ran in a 1 mile dash. Held up from the start, the usually consistent Lincoln just never got into this. Finished middle of the pack in 15th, 30 runners in a 1 mile race is just too many for me.
Two runners for me at the second day of Royal Ascot. Rah Rah in a group 2 5 furlong dash. Unbeaten in the previous two starts, got into a good position but couldn't get on terms with some good looking horses finishing 10th.

Justice Day ran in a 5 furlong dash on the first day at Royal Ascot. At 50/1, I wasn't expecting much. It made a good start and got a great split between two groups of horses. If it had the change of pace, it stood every chance but ultimately was well beaten and seemed a little out of its depth.

Ocean Applause became my first stable runner at Chelmsford over a mile and a half. Held up, it never got into contention and beat only 1 horse. Another poor outing!

Windsor again as Pivot Point had its first run in 222 days. Disappointed as a 2 year old, a couple of promissing places early on, it failed to win its maiden despite going off odds on favourite in a modest race at Brighton. Now in Handicap class, it was sent to the rear of the field in a 1 mile race. Got into good position 3 furlongs out and despite making progress, never found a finishing burst. Really hope the maiden voodoo is broken at some point.

Interestingly, one of my hurdlers Last Supper ran in a 1M3F flat race at Hamilton Park. Got into a good position and kept on well without a real burst of finishing speed. Finished in the places at 3rd.

What has happened to Jewellery? The favourite horse in my stable who always bowled along at the front and gave you a run for your money, changed stables and hasn't been the same horse since. It did actually lead briefly in a 2M4F race at Hexham, but when the pace quickened half a mile out, it couldn't keep up and finished 7th from 8.

Monday, 25 May 2015

Not often that one of my horses runs at Windsor. After appearing on the all weather last time out, Ocean applause ran in a 10 furlong race. Only 7 runners after 3 non-runners were declared, amazing how often this happens so that each way is only payable on first two. Ocean applause got into a good position, quickened well 2 furlongs out but then just got out-paced in the final furlong to come home in 3rd. This horse has run reasonably on its last few outings, hopefully a big result is just around the corner.

Justice Day ran today in a graded 5F dash at Haydock Park. Started reasonably well and got into a good position. But this is not the largest of horses and it kind of got dwarfed and bullied by others jostling for position. Finished a respectable 5th but failed to find a change of gear in the last furlong.

Maybe Plenty  -  14/1/15

Newbury    Betfred TV EBF Mares National hunt Novices Hurdle
2M 5F     8 runners
Jockey: G Sheehan      Trainer: G Smyly
Weight:  11-6
Finished: 6th

Led for 2 circuits and looked sprightly, when she was joined half a mile from home and the pace quickened, she had nothing in the tank and finished a disappointing 6th.

Midnight Appeal  -  10/1/15

Kempton    -  William Hill Bet on the move Handicap Chase
3M    9 runners
Jockey:  W.Hutchinson      Trainer:  A.King
Weight:  11-5
Finished:  Unseated

Clobbered the first fence and the jockey went out the side door. Nothing further to add.

Last supper  -  8/1/15

Southwell       coral.co.uk best odds guaranteed on racing median auction maiden stakes
1M 3F     6 runners
Jockey: T Durcan     Trainer: J.Bethell
Weight:  9-3
Finished: 1st

A bit of a surprise to discover one of my novice hurdler's entered on the all weather. Jumped out of the stalls into an early lead but soon fell into about 3rd place. Ran the rail for the whole trip, always looked comfortable, made its move 3 furlongs out and quickly dropped the 2 rivals that went with her. Not often you relax 1 furlong from the finish but this was a really comfortable victory.

Rude and Crude  - 4/1/15

Plumpton      At the races Sky 415 EBF stallions 'National hunt' novices hurdle
2M 5F     7 runners
Jockey: Nick Schofield      Trainer:  Mrs L Hill
Weight:  11-2
Finished:  5th

After a winning bumper debut and a follow-up 2nd, this was Rude & Crude's debut over the sticks and he has still to run anywhere but Plumpton. Led from the start and looked terrific for 2 circuits. But coming round the bend at the railway turn with 3 furlongs to go, he came under pressure and there was nothing in the tank. Ended up 5th but will come on for the run.

The Young Master - 20/12/14

Ascot        Mappin & Webb Silver Cup Handicap chase (Listed)
3M  9 runners
Jockey: B.Geraghty       Trainer: N.Mulholland
Weight: 10-9

I saw this horse run twice in a couple of weeks and both times it was superb, so in my stable it went. Unlucky to have a win at Wetherby taken away as it was not eligible to be entered ! (How did it ever reach the start line?). Possibly not its most fluent run in this good quality race and jumped out to the left a couple of times. When Geraghty asked it to go half a mile from the finish, it turned on the class and won this listed race impressively. Surely a festival horse in the making....
Maybe Plenty - 20/12/2014

Haydock   Swift SFM Mares' Novices' Hurdle   LISTED
2m 4F    5 runners
Jockey: G.Sheehan    Trainer: G.Smyly
Weight: 11-0

5 horse race that went off at a cracking pace. Maybe Plenty was stuck midfield between the leading pair with 2 behind. Every time it tried to get on terms with the leaders, they pulled away again. Eventually, pace was too much and he struggled home in last place.
